Father's Day 2011

Today is Father's Day and we remember all Dads around the world!
A Dad wears many hats...In this house we remember the Scout leader, the Bible school teacher, the weekend 'gentleman farmer', the 'absent minded' professor, and so much more...

I found this poem and I wanted to share it with you! It says it all!

 Dad
(© Karen K. Boyer)
He never looks for praises
He's never one to boast
He just goes on quietly working
For those he loves the most
His dreams are seldom spoken
His wants are very few
And most of the time his worries
Will go unspoken too
He's there.... A firm foundation
Through all our storms of life
A sturdy hand to hold to
In times of stress and strife
A true friend we can turn to
When times are good or bad
One of our greatest blessings,
The man that we call Dad.

Happy Father's Day!
Always remembered,
never forgotten!

MY HERO

He wakes up lonely in a foreign land,
A far away place, full of sand.
A battle cry is His waking call,
Many men have yet to fall.

He is weary, tired and drawn,
On the horizon He sees the dawn.
One more battle, then He’s done,
When will this war be won?

In another place His children play,
Storing memories for a rainy day.
They miss His laugh, His stories too,
Mums are good, but never true.

Six long months and then we see,
Our hero return home to me.
For you see, my hero is my Dad,
A soldier fighting, it is so sad.

May your Father's Day be a blessed one!
